The ocean off Durban remains a good hunting ground for anglers.

I may have drawn a blank on my last outing from Durban Ski Boat Club, but this does not mean that the area is without good fishing.

I targeted yellowfin tuna during the Jet Ski Bonanza back in November last year, as it made sense from a competition perspective.

However, the anglers below seemed to have had supper in mind as they fished deeper down for other species.

Summer tends to be good for dorado and couta in Durban, but these guys end up catching fish we generally associate with the colder months.

I am hoping for action soon and had to miss out on a recent FreeSpool invitation to go fishing off Tugela. Work got in the way that day.

Next month will see the Couta Classic hosted by Umlalazi Ski Boat Club in Mtunzini, while Pumula will again host Quattro King of the Sea in May.

I am certainly targeting both competitions for another taste of what our ocean has to offer. I suspect the majority of what I catch will again be released alive, assuming I catch at all.

Below we have a team who had no problems turning fishing into catching off Durban last month.

Reminder - Imperial Nissan Zululand Couta Classic at Mtunzini on 25 and 26 April 2015.
