VIDEO: Drifting in snapper pursuit
Updated | By Staff Writer

We hooked and lost two tuna while trolling lures and later decided to try drifting.
This involved cutting the motors and allowing the current to take us along.
We rigged a few whole sardine baits in the process.
Captain Richard Chivers of Nikao Fishing Adventures felt that drifting would get us tuna, but was concerned that our hooked fish would become targets for sharks roaming the Protea Banks.
He was right and we ended up losing two to what looked like either blacktip or spinner sharks.
Our footage today also features drifting, but here the baits are dropped right down to the bottom.
We were not allowed to fish bottom during Quattro King of the Sea.
Captain Blair Wiggins ends up with a nice treat after the long haul from ocean floor to ocean surface.
Snapper are known to be rather tasty.
