VIDEO: Catching grunter on a fly
Anglers here in KwaZulu-Natal tend to use cracker and ginger shrimp when targeting grunter.
I have also caught grunter on squid, sea lice, sardine fillet and sardine head (especially bigger specimens up at St Lucia).
Grunter are a favourite target species for those who enjoy fishing in both Durban and Richards Bay harbours.
These fish are also common along the Durban beachfront and at places like Umkomaas on the KZN south coast.
I remember catching some big ones on bigger baits off the North Pier in Durban.
I have never caught a grunter on fly and I suspect the same applies to many of you.
However, these fish can be caught on fly.
