VIDEO: Bridge fishing for tarpon
Updated | By Andre Bloem
Today we sample some very difficult fishing from Florida in the USA.
Tarpon are tough fish to catch even in good conditions.
Landing one of these powerful creatures from a bridge and with pylons around is not an easy feat.
Tarpon can weigh up to 140kg and are acrobatic and strong fighters.
The angler in our footage is fishing for tarpon from a bridge in the Florida Keys.
The action shows us just how challenging it can be to land a so-called silver king.
Tarpon are also found here in Africa with Angola considered a prime destination.
Tarpon feed on other fish and also shrimps and crabs.
I have also seen tarpon caught on fly fishing tackle and have shared footage of them jumping into and over boats while hooked.
