VIDEO: Awesome king mackerel
Anglers in KwaZulu-Natal are already catching king mackerel and will most likely land many more couta over the new few months.
These fish provide KZN anglers will plenty of fast and furious action in summer and are mostly caught from boats and skis.
Couta are also known to take baits off South Pier in Durban.
They have very sharp teeth and using a steel trace is generally a good idea.
My limited experience suggests that live bait is the best option for catching king mackerel - but I have seen them caught on dead ribbonfish and lures.
Today we join Captain Wiggins in his pursuit of king mackerel in the Florida Keys in the USA.
