VIDEO: Andre catches boss snoek
I went deep sea fishing with Kirk Newton of GoFish magazine earlier this year.
We fished from a jet-ski and started our day by catching baitfish.
We caught several red-eye, maasbanker and a sea pike.
We also trolled lures for a while, but then resorted to fishing with live bait.
Nothing was happening and so we opted to go closer to shore in pursuit of Natal snoek.
I hooked and lost what felt like a really nice snoek that ate a red-eye fillet.
We were about to head home when we spotted a commotion close by.
The commotion turned out to be snoek feeding on what we figured were sprats.
I grabbed a spinning rod and cast a spoon just beyond the feeding frenzy.

It was my first snoek in years and by far the biggest I have seen.
