The Sharks lost in the Absa Currie Cup on Saturday night.
Rugby
Western Province beat the Sharks 25-19 at Newlands. The Springboks will head to New Zealand at the summit of the Castle Rugby Championship log. The Boks have 14 points from their 3 matches in the 2013 competition. Their next assignment is a date with the All Blacks in Auckland on Saturday 14 September.
Soccer
Bafana Bafana's hopes of a place at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil have been shattered. A win by Ethiopia over the Central African Republic in Group A ensured them a spot in the final round of qualifying. Bafana finished second in the group after claiming a 4-1 win over Botswana in Durban. Ten teams will contest play-offs over two legs in the final round. Cape Verde Island have qualified ahead of Tunisia.
Cricket
Zimbabwe were hammered by 221 runs by Pakistan in the first Test in Harare on Saturday.
Golf
South African golfer, Richard Sterne, is 13 shots off the pace at the Omega European Masters. Sterne has shot a third round 71. Craig Lee leads the field after carding 61 in round 3.
Motorsport
Sebastien Vettel will start on pole at the Italian Gran Prix tomorrow. Ferrari failed to secure a spot in the top three on the grid. Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso finished 4th and 5th fastest respectively, while Mark Webber and Nico Hulkenburg complete the top three spots on the grid.
Tennis
Serena Williams and Viktoria Azarenka will meet in the final of the women's singles at the US Open. Meanwhile, Rafa Nadal and Novak Djokovic will contest the men's final. Djokovic needed 5 sets to beat Stanislas Wawrinka in the semi-finals.
