Vermeulen signs for Toulon

Stormers eighthman Duane Vermeulen has officially signed for French club Toulon.

The burly Springbok number 8 pulled a bit of a fast one this week and travelled to the South of France to be unveiled as the European champions'  most recent high-profile signing.

Vermeulen is currently nursing a neck injury and will take no part in the Stormers' Super Rugby playoff against the Brumbies tomorrow.

Reports suggest the Stormers were slightly unhappy with Vermeulen's trip to France, but it has no effect on their preparations for tomorrow's clash.

Vermeulen joins Toulon on a three year deal, but will still be eligible to play for the Springboks next year.

Meanwhile, Schalk Burger is currently an injury doubt for tomorrow's game. The blonde-haired flank has a groin niggle that could sideline him. Burger is due to start at openside flank.

Stormers team (15-1) to face the Brumbies tomorrow:

Cheslin Kolbe, Dillyn Leyds, Juan de Jongh (c), Damian de Allende, Seabelo Senatla, Demetri Catrakilis, Nic Groom, Nizaam Carr,  Siya Kolisi, Schalk Burger, Manuel Carizza, Eben Etzebeth, Frans Malherbe, Bongi Mbonambi, Steven Kitshoff.

Substitutes: Scarra Ntubeni, Ali Vermaak, Vincent Koch, Jean Kleyn, Michael Rhodes, Louis Schreuder, Kurt Coleman, Jaco Taute.
