It was an unconvincing debut from the young flyhalf and he has not been picked to face the Cheetahs this weekend.

Curwin Bosch is preferred to Van Rensburg at flyhalf, while Garth April has retained his spot on the Sharks bench.

Sharks head coach, Robert du Preez, believes Van Rensburg has the ability to bounce back from his difficult start.

"I don't like picking a guy for one game and then dropping him completely for the next. However, the game against the Cheetahs is a big one for us and I am very happy with Curwin at flyhalf for this weekend. I think it was a tough debut for Benhard and yet it would have been a tough game for any flyhalf. Our forwards could not get going against the Kings. This meant that we could not get our shape going on attack and this made it very difficult for Benhard. He is a tough guy and we will definitely see and hear more about him in the future. I have no doubt about it. Benhard will be spending some time with the SA Under-20s now. They have a camp. It is exciting to have a young player like Benhard and also Inny Radebe in our mix going forward," Du Preez said.

Tendai Mtawarira, Coenie Oosthuizen and Lwazi Mvovo are all back for the Sharks this week after being rested for the Kings game. Du Preez believes they are hungry for action.

"They are good to go. Beast and Coenie both bring massive energy to our practice sessions," Du Preez added.

Jaco Peyper will referee the clash between the Sharks and Cheetahs in Bloemfontein on Saturday. The Cheetahs beat the Bulls earlier this Super Rugby season and Du Preez expects a difficult assignment this weekend.

"The Cheetahs are a very good team. They have their captain, Francois Venter, back this week. We know what to expect from them. They are a side that loves to attack. So from a defensive point of view, we are going to have to be very sharp," Du Preez said.

Despite the below par performance against the Kings last weekend, Du Preez feels that it has been a good season to date for the Sharks.

"We had a fantastic pre-season and a lot of hard work went into that. We have had a good start to the season. The game against the Reds is one we should have won. There have been very good signs of what this team can do. It is a very talented Sharks side. However, it is easy to talk about these things. At the end of the day, when the players take the field the coach's job is done. It is then up to the individuals and the team to perform," Du Preez concluded.

The Sharks are again without the injured Philip van der Walt this week. He is expected to be fit for their clash with the Lions on 1 April.
