Van Gaal's career ends with United
Updated | By Benedict Ngwenya
The 63-year-old confirmed in an interview with the Daily Telegraph that he plans to walk away from football completely when his time at Old Trafford comes to an end.
"This is my last job. For sure. I have to pay attention to my kids, my grandchildren, but also to my wife," he said.
Van Gaal has overseen an improvement in United's fortunes since taking over from David Moyes and they head into their last seven games in the hunt for a Champions League return.
He is one of the most respected managers in the world after spells with Ajax Amsterdam, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and AZ Alkmaar.
He has also had two stints in charge of the Netherlands.
The Red Devils have an English Premiership date this Sunday. They visit Liverpool at Anfield.
The match gets underway at 15h30.
