Try wizard Senatla wants more

With 48 tries to his name this season, Blitzbokke sensation Seabelo Senatla hopes to continue scoring and contributing to the team.

The Western Province wing has been one of the Springbok Sevens go-to-men for the past two seasons. His blistering pace is almost unmatched on the Sevens circuit, making him a deadly weapon on attack.

Senatla offers a lot more than just raw speed. He works hard on defence and puts in some solid tackles despite his diminutive size. And at just 23-years-old, he promises to be one of the legends of the future.

Looking ahead to the Singapore Sevens, which is the third last stop of the HSBC Sevens Series, Senatla hopes to continue sniffing out the try line.

Senatla insists that his impressive try tally, which has already surpassed his record last year, comes down to team work and not individual brilliance. He is also the leading try-scorer in the Series

“I will keep emphasising that it’s the team’s work. The guys inside me are doing most of the work and I just keep dotting the ball down, that’s really what it is,” the Blitzbok flyer said.

“It’s a great personal goal for me that I set – I think as an athlete you want to be better than the last time you played and that for me was last year. I said to myself this year I want to score a bit more than I scored last year.

“To do that with three tournaments to go is really special for me, I have already realised that goal. But again, it’s not about me or my personal goals. At the end of the day I align my goals with the team’s goals and if they go hand in hand I know I’m on the right track.

“Put the team first and the rest will take care of itself and that is exactly what is happening right now,” Senatla insisted.

While we're still waiting for a complete highlights package of his tries this season, check out Senatla's best clips from the Sydney Sevens earlier this year.

The Blitzboks face Scotland, Russia and Kenya at the Singapore Sevens tomorrow.
