Travis and Kelly win

Travis Logie has won his first round heat at the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast in Australia.

Logie beat Adriano de Souza and Dusty Payne at Snapper Rocks on Tuesday.

Other surfers to win in the opening round include Bede Durbridge, John John Florence, Kelly Slater, Gabriel Medina and Mick Fanning.

Defending world champion, Joel Parkinson, settled for second in his first round outing on Tuesday.

Jordy Smith will face CJ Hobgood and Glen Hall in his first round heat.

Southern Cape surfer, Bianca Buitendag, is through to the quarter-finals of the ladies event at Snapper Rocks.

Buitendag will meet Sally Fitzgibbons next at the Roxy Pro Gold Coast.

Fitzgibbons, who is from Australia, is currently second in the world rankings.
