Township 2 Township bonus

There are just four weeks to go until the Township 2 Township Marathon and registration is now open for the race to be held on the 1 September 2013.

As a response to interest by athletes, the Township 2 Township will for the first time include a 21.1km half marathon, as well as the standard 42.2km full marathon.

With last year’s race having started in uMlazi, the Township 2 Township 2013 will start at 05h30 at KwaMashu’s Princess Magogo Stadium for the 42.2km, whilst the 21.1km race will start at the same time at the Chesterville Sasol Garage, with both races finishing at uMlazi’s King Zwelithini Stadium. Athletes aiming to qualify for the Comrades and Two Oceans Marathons will have until 10h30 to complete the full marathon, while the 21.1km race will cut off at 08h30.

Athletes can register on the marathon’s website or collect their registration forms from KwaZulu Natal Athletics as well as the uMlazi, Chesterville and Kwa-Mashu Athletics Clubs.

Registration, at a fee of R120 per entry for the full marathon and R60 for the half marathon, will close on 31 August 2013 for both manual and online entries.

The prize money for the race will range from R40 000 for the first prize in the open category, for both male and female, in the 42.2km race, to team prizes in both the full marathon and the 21.1km.
