Fernando Torres scored twice for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night.
Victor Moses netted the other Chelsea goal.
Tottenham Hotspur also had a Europa League quarter-final first leg assignment in London last night.
Spurs ended up drawing 2-2 with Swiss club FC Basle.
Emanuel Adebayor and Gylfi Sigurdsson scored for the hosts at White Hart Lane.
Spurs lost Gareth Bale late in the match.
Bale suffered an injury and left the pitch on a stretcher.
Newcastle United were beaten in their Europa League quarter-final first leg outing in Lisbon last night.
Benfica defeated the Magpies 3-1.
Papiss Cisse netted the only Newcastle goal in Portugal.
Former Liverpool striker, Dirk Kuyt, scored for Fenerbahce in their 2-0 victory over Lazio.
The visitors from Rome had a player sent off in Istanbul last night.
