There were mixed fortunes for the Williams sisters in the second round of the ladies tournament in Cincinnati.
Serena Williams beat Eugenie Bouchard in three sets, while Venus Williams was beaten in three sets by Elena Vesnina.

Marion Bartoli has announced her retirement from competitive tennis - this just six weeks after winning Wimbledon.

Athletics

Eshowe sprinter, Justine Palframan, has ended fifth in her first round heat at the IAAF World Championships in Moscow today.
Palframan, who was born and raised in KZN, clocked 23.64 seconds in the women's 200-metres.
Palframan is currently based in Stellenbosch.

Rugby

New Zealand have picked one uncapped player for their Rugby Championship clash with Australia this weekend
Ryan Crotty is the only Test rookie in the squad for the game in Sydney on Saturday.
Crotty is on the New Zealand bench.
Richie McCaw will lead an All Blacks starting 15 also featuring the likes of Israel Dagg, Conrad Smith, Ma'a Nonu, Aaron Cruden, Kieran Read and Andrew Hore.
Keven Mealamu and Beauden Barrett are among the replacements.

Cricket

India A have beaten Australia A in the final of the triangular one-day series in South Africa.
India A won by 50 runs in Pretoria.
Dinesh Karthik top scored for the winners with 73, while Shikhar Dhawan made 62.
The first of two four-day matches between India A and South Africa A will start in Rustenburg this weekend.

Surfing

SA surfers, Jordy Smith and Travis Logie, will feature in the same first round heat at the Billabong Pro Tahiti.
