Rugby:

The Springbok Sevens rugby team will aim to end their busy season on a successful note when they travel to Cali, Colombia today to participate in the 2013 World Games.

The Springbok Sevens team will form part of Team SA who will do battle in nine different sporting codes.

The Games start on 25 July and end on 4 August and it is the first time that the World Games will be staged in South America.

The SA Sevens team will be coached by former SA Sevens stalwarts Vuyo Zangqa and Neil Powell.

Meanwhile, Francois Hougaard and Jan Serfontein have been named in the Vodacom Blue Bulls starting line-up for Saturday's Super Rugby semi-final against the Brumbies.

The match will take place at Loftus Versfeld - kickoff will be at 17h05.

Soccer:

Maritzburg United have signed Ghanaian striker Yakubu Mohammed.

Former Orlando Pirates defender Robin Johannes has also joined the KZN club.

Thanda Royal Zulu will play in the National First Division next season, the PSL will release updated 2013/14 Absa Premiership fixtures in due course which will include Polokwane City and MP Black Aces.

Orlando Pirates are still in the hunt after Zamalek and Al Ahly played to a 1-1 draw in Group A of the CAF Champions League on Wednesday.

The Buccaneers are third in the group and will play away to Al Ahly early next month.

Pep Guardiola faced his former side Barcelona for the first time since his departure yesterday.

Guardiola's Bayern Munich claimed a 2-0 win over the Spanish champions. Phillip Lahm and Mandzukic were on target for the Bavarians in the friendly.

Real Madrid played to a 2-2 draw at Lyon in their second pre-season match, while Manchester City and Sunderland will meet in the Barclays Asia Cup on Saturday.

City won 1-0 against South China in the semi-finals and Sunderland hammered Tottenham 3-1.

Surfing:

Jordy Smith and Beyrick de Vries are through to the round of 24 at the Vans US Open of Surfing in California.

Smith and De Vries both won their respective heats in the round of 48.
