Steyn may be fit for 1st England Test
Updated | By Sport24
Proteas fast bowler Dale Steyn is likely to be fit to face England when the first Test starts in Durban on December 26.
Steyn injured his groin on South Africa’s recent tour to India and there was doubt whether he would be ready for the start of the four-Test series.
However, news emanating from his franchise, the Cape Cobras, appears to indicate that Steyn will be ready for the Boxing Day Test.
Steyn this week bowled in the nets at Newlands, sprinted at full pace and also did some fielding drills.
“We were asked to conduct a fitness test on Dale by the Cricket South Africa (CSA) medical team,” Cape Cobras physiotherapist Shane Jabaar told the Cape Times.
Jabaar said Steyn was required to bowl, field, sprint and also perform a clinical test. Steyn passed all the required tests.
Steyn is set to undergo further tests when he joins the national team next week.
