Springboks fall as The Sharks soar
Updated | By Alain Tardin
What started out as an amazing afternoon of rugby for KZN fans turned into disappointment for a nation as the Springboks crumbled to a 32-19 loss to the Pumas.
A lot was to be said about Springboks first half in last weeks clash, which unfortunately seemed to roll over into this weeks fixture in Argentina.
Skipper Siya Kolisi and a brace by replacement wing Lionel Mapoe who came on early in the first half for an injured Makazole Mapimpi manage to secure tries for the Boks.
Argentina claimed their first four points of the tournament, while the Boks leave with nothing but a handshake and remain on the five points they picked up in Durban.
The Sharks on the other hand kicked off their 2018 Currie Cup campaign with a very impressive 26-10 victory over the Blue Bulls earlier today.
Juan Schoeman, Kobus van Wyk, Aphelele Fassi and Curwin Bosch ensured their side walked away with the big “W”.
The Bulls were only able to reply through Jesse Kriel's converted try and a Manie Libbok penalty.
The Springboks have some work ahead of them as they prepare to face off against Australia next while The Sharks will be packing their bags to take on the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein.
