Slater champion in Fiji

Kelly Slater has won the Volcom Pro Fiji.

Slater defeated Mick Fanning in the final at Tavarua on Wednesday.

Slater beat John John Florence in the semi-finals and recorded a perfect score of 20 in his quarter-final win over Sebastian Zietz.

Florence ousted Jordy Smith in his quarter-final heat.

Losing finalist, Fanning, eliminated Joel Parkinson in the quarter-finals.

Slater is now top of the World Championship Tour standings, while Fanning is second and Smith third.

Next stop for the elite surfers is the Oakley Pro in Bali.

The contest is due to start this coming Tuesday - 18 June.
