She did it!

Pietermaritzburg's Nontuthuko Mashimane has done it. The ECR and Old Mutual runner's successfully completed her first Comrades Marathon.

The 33-year-old nutritionist came in with a time of 10 hours 12 minutes.

She had to dig deep and pick herself up at Camperdown after a nasty fall.

She pushed through despite the pain because she's dedicated her run today to Community Chest, for whom she is raising funds.

Nontuthuko was just one of 4422 South African women running today. 391 women came here from overseas for the race.

Nontuthuko ran with her brother, a seven-times Comrades runner.

Congratulations Nontuthuko - you're proof that if you put your mind to something, you can achieve great things.
