Odwa Ndungane will miss the Absa Currie Cup action in Cape Town on Saturday night.
The Sharks utility back is out injured.
Sharks assistant coach, Sean Everitt, has also confirmed that Butch James will most likely start against Western Province.
He says it is a rotational switch.
James looks set to replace Fred Zeilinga at flyhalf.
Everitt also indicated that Tim Whitehead will be involved at Newlands.
He seems likely to start ahead of Heimar Williams at inside centre.
Danie Mienie is another player expected to start for the Sharks on Saturday.
Sizo Maseko will almost certainly replace Ndungane.
Tera Mtembu remains short of full fitness and will not be considered for the Cape Town assignment.
This means another start on the bench for Justin Downey.
