The 21-year-old centre will undergo surgery this week while fullback Rhyno Smith is due to see a specialist after picking up a pectoral injury.

Meanwhile Pat Lambie suffered a slight concussion and was left at home this week as a precaution.

Coach Rob du Preez said Lambie is going through the concussion protocols and should be available for their clash against the Stormers in Durban next weekend.

It's not clear how long Smith will be sidelined for.

The Sharks departed for Singapore on Monday with a 25-man squad for their clash against the Sunwolves.

Coenie Oosthuizen has also been left in Durban - he's being rested in line with the Springbok resting protocol.
