SARU delay new Bok coach announcement

Heyneke Meyer’s successor as Springbok coach will only be named early next year.
SARU's general council met in Cape Town last Friday where the respective union presidents and CEOs decided that a process to appoint the new coach needs to be followed.
Allister Coetzee was believed to be the favourite to replace Meyer, who stepped down after a failed Rugby World Cup campaign which saw South Africa lose to New Zealand in the semi-finals.
However, according to Netwerk24, not all of the unions’ top brass are in favour of the former Stormers mentor becoming the next Bok coach.
The conservative gameplan Coetzee adopted with the Cape franchise is believed to be one of the concerns, while some are in doubt whether he would be able to take the Boks to the All Blacks’ level.
Coetzee is nevertheless still a strong candidate for the job, with the names of Johan Ackermann, John Plumtree, Wayne Smith and Rassie Erasmus also mentioned.
