South African surfers, Travis Logie and Jordy Smith, have both ended second in first round action at the Quiksilver Pro France.
Logie was runner-up in a heat won by Kieren Perrow, while Smith was narrowly beaten by Ramzi Boukhiam.
Joel Parkinson and Mick Fanning also had to settle for second in their opening heats.
Kelly Slater, however, is already assured of a spot in round three. This after winning his first round heat earlier today.
