Zimbabwe still trail the Proteas by 113 runs in Harare.
Morne Morkel has dismissed Hamilton Masakadza for 19.
South Africa were all out for 397 in their first innings.
Faf du Plessis made 98 and Quinton de Kock 81.
JP Duminy was last man out for 55.
Debutante spinner, John Nyumbu, took five wickets for Zimbabwe.
