The Proteas are back at the top of the Test cricket rankings.
This after winning the Test series 1-0 in Sri Lanka.
The Proteas held on for a draw on a tense final day in Colombo.
They ended the second and final Test on 159 for eight in their second innings.
Quinton de Kock top scored for South Africa with 37, while Vernon Philander made an unbeaten 27 from 98 balls.
Imran Tahir survived 21 balls in scoring four not out.
Rangana Herath claimed five for 40 for Sri Lanka.
