Port Shepstone kob and garrick action
We have been told of good fishing action in and around Port Shepstone this past week.
Toti was a good spot this week with a few garrick, shad and in-edibles being caught daily. The Daiwa D Minnow has been responsible for catches of shad, pickhandle barracuda and also garrick. For those using bait there are plenty of pompano to target in the Toti area. Sealice is the best bait for these fish.
Scottburgh has seen good catches of sandsharks, brown rays and shad. Mackerel baits have worked extremely well in this area for most species caught.
Port Shepstone fished well for most of the week apart from one or two days that saw very little action. Shad are in their millions, garrick are feeding very well and kob have been seen on most days feeding on throw baits in the deeper water. Mullet seems to be the go-to bait in these times of banned shad baits. Live mullet has been responsible for a lot of the larger catches along the south coast.
The shad season will re-open on 1 December. Until then all shad have to be released.
