Plenty of time for Dolphins to get back on track

The Hollywoodbets Dolphins head into another busy week of CSA T20 Challenge action knowing that there are plenty of opportunities to move up the table despite a poor start to the campaign.

The Dolphins welcome the DP World Lions to Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium on Wednesday evening before a trip to the Cape Winelands to face the GBets Rocks on Friday and finishing the week's action with another home game against the North West Dragons on Sunday.

The nature of the competition is that the games come thick and fast, but there is a lot of cricket to be played and coach of the Dolphins Imraan Khan understands that.

"It has not been the ideal start to the tournament that's for sure, but we know that with a home and away leg there are still a lot of opportunities to pick up points," Khan said.

"We understand that we haven't been up to standard with both the bat and the ball in our first two matches, but we are looking at this week as an important chance to get back on track.

"We have a strong squad of players and we're waiting for the side to click and produce 40 overs of great cricket."

The Lions have won both of their matches that they have played this season in the T20 Challenge and will provide another stern test for the Dolphins in Durban. For Khan, there are no easy matches in T20 competitions.

"All teams have the ability to beat you on any given day in T20 cricket, so we have to maintain incredibly high standards all the time.

"It's crucial that we continue to back our processes and we know that we are a side that can get on a good run of form.

"This week is going to be another tough week with some big games ahead of us which includes a trip to the Western Cape and then back for another home game, so we'll have a busy week.

"We are confident that there will be a turnaround from the players this week and we're looking forward to having another full week of fixtures," he added.

The Dolphins currently sit in fifth position on the table heading into this week of fixtures and will be hoping to begin closing the gap on the teams above them with some winning cricket.

Wednesday's clash at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium will start at 18:00.
