Plenty squid in Durban harbour
Updated | By Staff Writer

There have been excellent reports of grunter success off the banks in Durban harbour. The grunter are feeding well on sardine and cracker shrimp.
A variety of fish have been landed off the piers, including some good Malabar rock cod, pickhandle barracuda and also nice kingfish.
Reports of larger fish have been received from anglers using big baits at the harbour mouth. These fish have not been landed and have taken anglers into the rocks. These are believed to be big rock cod and need to be dealt with using heavy tackle.
There has been a large presence of bay squid around the mouth, which has probably drawn many fish in to feed.
Squid would be a good option for an attempt at landing one of these larger fish.
