The former Cell C Sharks scrumhalf was subjected to a series of tests at a Springbok practice session yesterday.

Pienaar hurt his knee during the Castle Lager Rugby Championship and is yet to play since then.

The Springboks have a date with Ireland on Saturday night.

Their hosts have doubts about the availability of Jonathan Sexton.

The Ireland flyhalf has a hamstring problem.
