Pellegrini talks and Lampard scores

Manuel Pellegrini appears close to replacing Roberto Mancini as Manchester City manager.

Pellegrini says he has a verbal agreement with City and hopes to sign a deal soon.

Meanwhile, England and Republic of Ireland have drawn 1-1 in their friendly international at Wembley.

Frank Lampard netted for England, while Shane Long scored for Ireland on Wednesday night.

This was the first meeting between England and Ireland since 1995.

The match 18 years ago had to be abandoned due to fan violence.
