No panic at the Sharks says Botha

Cell C Sharks have a Currie Cup date with the EP Kings in Durban this Saturday. The Sharks have lost their last two Currie Cup outings and yet the mood in their camp is calm.

Lock forward, Ruan Botha, says head coach, Robert du Preez, is not pressing the panic button.

"I don't think he is putting any pressure on us. We saw the clips and the 21 points the Cheetahs scored were 21 points from our own mistakes. So it wasn't like they were playing their game. We gave them the points with silly mistakes and not holding onto the ball. He doesn't put pressure on the player and it is one thing he's got right here. Especially at times like this where you have lost two games in a row. When you start applying pressure things can go wrong and the wheels can fall off the bus. I think he is managing perfectly and giving the guys the confidence to go out each week and do what they are here for."

The Sharks lost senior players both ahead of and during the 38-30 loss to the Cheetahs last weekend.

Botha says coping in their absence had proved challenging.

"I think it was definitely a learning lesson for all the young guys. It is not easy losing senior players and leaders. I think we had failed to step up to the plate. I think the lesson is just to keep on playing your game and to keep your focus on the team goal for the week and not on the missing players."

The game between the Sharks and Kings is scheduled to start at 3pm.
