The return of wing, Akona Ndungane, is good news for the Blue Bulls after the injury blow to Travis Ismaiel earlier on Monday.

Ismaiel was ruled out of this weekend's Absa Currie Cup match against the Sharks after sustaining a knee injury in Saturday's 62-23 loss to the Golden Lions.

Ismaiel, who scored his first Currie Cup try in the match, would be out of action for at least two weeks.

Ndungane had been declared fit following a hamstring strain and began training on Monday.

Bulls team doctor Org Strauss confirmed Ismaiel was the only casualty from the Lions clash.

Meanwhile, Tony Jantjies (back), Jacques du Plessis (finger) and Francois Venter (shoulder) would only start training on Wednesday, along with Frik Kirsten, who missed the last two matches after sustaining an ankle injury.

Callie Visagie had been ruled out for six weeks after a scan on his ankle and he would join Jean Cook (broken thumb) on the sidelines.

Basil Short (knee), Francois Hougaard (ankle), Cornell Hess (knee), Deon Stegmann (shoulder), Arno Botha (knee), Pierre Spies (biceps) and Louis Fouche (knee) remained long term injuries.
