The most bizarre penalty kick

The most bizarre penalty kick

With the rugby World Cup just over a month and a half away one thing or should I say a weapon teams need in their Lockeroom is a damn good kicker.

World Cups have shown that taking your three pointers and conversions could well be the difference between winning and losing.

2003 in Australia, Sydney to be exact Johnny Wilkinson was the hero when he landed a drop goal off his weak right foot to win the Webb Ellis Trophy for England.

Four years later, Percy Montgomery and Franscois Steyn combined to lift the Springboks to a 15-9 win over England at Stade de France with all points coming off the boot.

2011 in Auckland at Eden Park a penalty from Stephen McDonald was the difference between the All Blacks and France in an 8-7 scoreline.

Now usually when kicking, conditions come into play bigtime and can make or break your kick stats. Sometimes conditions can be so challenging that bizarre things happen whilst taking a kick.

WIND is the biggest nightmare for any kicker and sometimes it helps you landing a 50m kick with the wind behind but kicking into the wind can be a disaster and really dent your confidence.

Now here is a video which illustrates what I mean.

Felipe Conteponi has what looks like an ordinary kick in front of the rugby polls and only about 30 metres out but unfortunately the wind didn’t make things easy…

Watch what happens to his awesome kick:

Do you think the ball went over the polls or not?
