Long jumpers Zarck Visser, Khotso Mokoena and Rushwahl Samaai claimed gold, silver and bronze with leaps of 8.08, 8.02 and 7.84m respectively.

Rikinette Steenkamp won the ladies 100m hurdles gold, while discus stars, Victor Hogan and Russel Tucker, recorded 62.87 and 62.15m for gold and silver.

Back in South Africa we saw success for Irvette van Zyl.

Van Zyl, wife of hurdler LJ, won the Stellenbosch Totalsports Ladies Race in a fast 32 minutes 20 seconds, with Rene Kalmer second by 70 seconds.

“Everything just went well today. I was only hoping for about 33:15,” said Van Zyl, who reduced her previous best of 32:50.

KZN runner, Jenna Challenor, was fourth and also ran a personal best of 34:27.

These and other leading ladies are expected to be in action in Durban in two weeks' time at the Spar Ladies Race.

The KZN Cross Country League continues its build-up to the provincial championships on 23 August at Hutchinson Park in Amanzimtoti.

For the ladies in the province, this is clearly an unfortunate clash of dates with the Spar Ladies Race the day after.
