The Proteas have one more series before they head to the UAE and Oman for the T20 World Cup while a handful of players will play in the IPL in the same conditions.

Despite the focus on the World Cup, Miller knows that the side have a job to do now in order for them to head into the competition in a good frame of mind.

“Ultimately performance is everything so we want to come here and win the series and go into the World Cup with a lot of confidence,” Miller said.

“What we’ve achieved in the last few months has been a huge stepping-stone for us I believe. Beating the West Indies which a lot of people didn’t think we could do.

“Beating them 3-2 gave us a lot of confidence and then beating Ireland in Ireland also gave us a boost.”

With the fifteen-man squad confirmed for the showpiece, Miller believes that South Africa will go into the competition with a well-balanced, settled side.

“You consistently are trying to work out different combinations and in T20 cricket you have to be flexible and you always need to be ready for every situation.

“At this stage I think that we are pretty set and ready to go in knowing what our roles are going into the World Cup,” Miller mentioned.

Given the foreign nature of the conditions, it’s going to be important that the players involved in the IPL get the most experience out of the UAE.

“It is hot there at the moment but I think it will cool down as the competition goes on but the IPL will be great prep for the World Cup.

“I don’t think the pitches will be as slow at the start but as the competition goes on they will get slower so Sri Lanka is great preparation for us going into the World Cup.”
