Marlins crush Rhinos to finish 6th
Updated | By Nondumiso Zakwe

The Marlins came out firing early in the game and their captain Nhlanhla Dlamini led the early scoring with some precision three pointers, that saw the Marlins take a 26-16 lead at the end of the 1st quarter.
The men from Durban did not let up in the second quarter, with some lethal offence that saw the points flow continue, and New Zealander Benjamin Constable, Ryan McFie, Bandile Nsele and Landelani Ngubane dominated the play offensively, whilst veteran Darren Holcomb and youngster Brian Ngubane were aggressive on defence, and saw the Marlins take a 30 point lead into the half time interval 54-24.
The Marlins seemed to take their foot off the pedal a bit in the second half, with the game seemingly won by half time, and the Rhino’s made a spirited come back in the 3rd quarter, but the Marlins never looked likely of letting their lead slip and led by the games MVP Dlamini and the three point king Sbu Cele, they fended off the Rhino’s mini charge and closed off the game 84-49.
The convincing 35 point, pleased coach Craig Gilchrist, who was delighted with the teams progress since their poor start to the season, and despite failing to make to the playoffs, the youngsters in the team have given Gilchrist confidence as the Marlins now turn their attentions to keeping their squad together for 2015 and look to push for the title in 2016.
