Liverpool win, Gunners out of Cup
Liverpool have advanced to the next round in the Capital One Cup, while Arsenal and Everton were sent packing.
The Merseysiders were held to a 2-2 draw by Middlesbrough after regulation and extra-time.
The match was eventually decided on penalties, the Reds went on to emerge as 14-13 winners with every team member from both sides taking penalties including the goalkeepers.
Arsenal on the other hand were on the receiving end.
The Gunners went down 2-1 against Southampton at the Emirates.
Steven Pienaar's Everton suffered a 3-0 loss at the hands of Swansea.
Pienaar missed the Toffees clash due to injury.
