Dynasty and Greys Inn, South African horseracing legends who won the Vodacom Durban July in 2003 and 2004 respectively, will be represented in the event this Saturday by their superstar progeny.

Dynasty’s son Legislate won the Vodacom Durban July last year, and the stallion has two sons in the event this year in the form of the 4-year olds Futura and Dynastic Power.

Futura is currently third favourite to win the race.

Greys Inn is the sire of the spectacular top level performer Legal Eagle who comes into the Vodacom Durban July with formidable form and is currently the ruling favourite to win this Saturday’s big race.

Young South African-born jockey Chad Schofield, now Australia-based, returns to the land of his birth to ride in this Saturday’s July racemeeting.

He will ride the Australian-bred import The Conglomerate for trainer Joey Ramsden in the main race.

Having already made a big name for himself while still an apprentice in Australia, Schofield now has several Grade 1 wins to his name.

Much has been written about the difficulty he will face jumping from the outside draw on The Conglomerate on Saturday, but the close-bunched and very competitive style of racing that Schofield is accustomed to in Australia will have prepared him for the intensity of the Vodacom Durban July.

Chad - the son of the outstanding and internationally successful jockey Glyn Schofield – will be hoping to achieve what his father never managed while riding in South Africa - winning the Durban July.
