The latest Kingfisher report says that the activity off the Durban piers has picked up a bit with bigger shad and a few grunter now taking baits.

Durban anglers have also reported catching a few juvenile skates with the odd stumpnose being caught at sunset.

The Bluff is still producing some kingfish, while are biting at spots like Ansteys. Spoon is useful, but you may lose a few due to the large amount of rocks. A whole sardine as drift bait is probably a better option for this area. Remember to use a steel trace when drifting.

In Toti a lovely garrick of just over 10 kgs was caught recently by a local Angler. For more info visit www.kingfisher.co.za

It’s going to be a beautiful Monday in Durban with clear skies and a maximum temperature of 23 degrees. We have NNW winds blowing this morning swinging to onshores later. There were some really fun barrels around on the low tide for surfers and bodyboarders yesterday, so try to check your local spot before work this morning.

Surfers make sure that you stay tuned tomorrow for info about one of the most lucrative SSA Pro Surf Tour Events which is coming up in Scottburgh on 3 and 4 August. It will feature both a men’s and women’s division.
