Jansen called up to Proteas T20 World Cup squad
Updated | By Nick Tatham
Proteas selectors announced all-rounder
Marco Jansen as the replacement for the injured Dwaine Pretorius ahead of the
upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia.
Pretorius picked up an injury during the recent T20 series against India which ruled him out of the ODI series and Jansen has been added to the squad after originally being announced as one of the three travelling reserves.
Jansen, who has played in just one T20 International, comes into the squad ahead of experienced all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo and spinner Bjorn Fortuin while Titans seamer Lizaad Williams has added to the list of travelling reserves.

The tall left-arm seamer has been involved in the Indian
Premier League with both the Mumbai Indians and the Sunrisers Hyderabad but his
one and only T20 International was against India in June this year.
Phehlukwayo has played in 38 T20 Internationals and the position in the squad would have been between the two of them and the selection panel went with the left-arm bowler instead of the Hollywoodbets Dolphins all-rounder.
The Proteas will begin their preparation for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup with a warm-up match against New Zealand on 17 October and then one against Bangladesh two days later before their tournament starts on 24 October.
