Ironman in Durban soon

Only in its second year and already one of South Africa’s most popular triathlons, the Standard Bank IRONMAN 70.3 Durban takes place on Sunday 19 June 2016 at Suncoast.

The 1.9km swim, 90.1km bike and 21.1km run is set to start at Snake Park Beach before heading out on the along the M4, past Umhlanga turning at Zimbali. Athletes will then run along the promenade from Blue Lagoon, through New Beach and back for two laps before finishing in front of the SUNCOAST Main Beach front entrance to the applause and adulation of thousands of spectators.


The Standard Bank IRONMAN 70.3 South Africa is one of over 90 IRONMAN 70.3 races over five continents adding the unique Durban flavour to a host of international destinations on the circuit.


A sold-out field of 3000 athletes will be participating at the Standard Bank IRONMAN 70.3 Durban on Sunday 19 June 2016 with some of South Africa’s best professional athletes competing. The race gets underway at 07h00 and runs until 16h10.


Spectators are encouraged to come cheer the athletes on and be part of Durban’s biggest ever triathlon.


Apart from Race Day, the Expo and Merchandise Stands open on Friday 17 June and entrance is free to the public.
