Snake Park Pier saw some decent shad action recently, while New Pier was a bit quieter with lots of smaller bait-fish.

South Pier was also quiet, but some bigger shad have been landed near the Durban harbour entrance according to the latest Kingfisher report.

There seems to be a lot of small shad on the beachfront and among these are some blacktail and juvenile Natal stumpnose. The beachfront area is quite sanded up, so you need a long cast to reach the deep water.

Sunday morning saw some real excitement on the Bluff with two big kingfish chasing a shoal of karanteen almost onto the rocks in their feeding frenzy. Although some of the locals tried their best to target them, the kingies are still out there chasing the bait-fish.

Durbanites are in for a hot day with a maximum temperature of 31 degrees. Clear skies this morning will become partly cloudy later with clear skies again this evening. NNW winds have been forecast by WeatherSA this morning with NE winds this afternoon.
