Gold pleased with Toulon hit-out
Updated | By Sport24
Sharks director of rugby Gary Gold was happy with his side’s first outing of the season against French side Toulon last Friday.
The Sharks beat the French giants 29-21, outscoring their
opponents five tries to three.
The Durbanites picked up a few injury concerns, most notably skipper Pat Lambie, but Gold was happy with the way they played.
“For a first hit-out, I was really pleased with certain aspects of the game. I was particularly happy with our composure and the ability to score as many tries as we did,” Gold told the Sharks’ official website.
“There are a couple of areas we still need to work on, but I think by and large we came through the exercise to measure our levels of fitness and physicality quite well, against a seasoned team, already halfway through their season.”
The Sharks will conclude their pre-season tour to France when they face Toulouse on Thursday night (21:45 SA time).
The Sharks open their Super Rugby campaign away to the Kings on Saturday, February 27.
