The midfielder announced yesterday that he would be leaving the English club, where he has spent his entire career.

He said at the time that he would not be prepared to play for a club that might one day face Liverpool.

Despite that, Southampton manager Ronald Koeman and Real Sociedad manager, David Moyes expressed an interest in signing him should he change his mind.

Some reports suggest that he may join LA Galaxy, following in the footsteps of David Beckham.

The Reds have a date with Wimbledon for their FA Cup clash on Monday.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 19h55 South African time.
