Frylinck did not have record in mind

Hollywoodbets Dolphins all-rounder, Robbie Frylinck, last Friday hit the fastest 50 ever in Momentum One Day Cup cricket.

Frylinck reached his 50 off 19 balls and ended undefeated on 54 from 20 balls in a game against the Titans in Centurion.

Frylinck has since made it clear that he did not bat with the record in mind at Supersport Park.

"You know it is not something that I set out to do. I was focused on what was required to win the game. I was just quite fortunate that it came off and I did not even realize that I had broken the record. I was just happy that my team got over the line," Frylinck said.

Frylinck and his teammates had a look at the Centurion wicket the day before the match and felt that it would be good for batting.

"The pitch had the look of a 360 v 360 game. That is how good it looked for batting. It think the match was a good advert for the competition. There was a lot of runs and a lot of wickets. It was a nice way to start the campaign," Frylinck added.

The Dolphins beat the Titans by five wickets and reached their victory target of 326 with three balls to spare.

Frylinck feels that the Dolphins have room for improvement in both their fielding and bowling departments.

"We slipped up a bit in the field. We mis-fielded a few and gave them some extra runs. I also think we bowled them an extra two overs, because of wides. That obviously was not up to standard. Yet in the end we got to our target and it was a good game of cricket," said Frylinck.

The Dolphins will play their next Momentum One Day Cup match this coming Friday. That is when the Dolphins will host the Lions in Durban.

Frylinck believes it is important not to get carried away by the win in Centurion.

"It is nice to win, but there is still nine games to go. A lot can still happen and we have seen it before where we are right up there with three or four games to go, only to end up not making it through. The Lions have also started with a good win and have a strong team. The weather is not looking good at the moment and we can only hope it clears by Friday," Frylinck said.

Frylinck believes he is part of Dolphins squad enjoying life under head coach Grant Morgan.

"Morgs tries hard to ensure that everyone is happy. The guys have really responded well to him. It has been quite tough for him as he is also learning what this team is all about. I think he has done really well. Life under him is really good," Frylinck concluded.
