This coincides with the National Tour event which stretches from 6–8 December.
KZN beach volleyball fans are eagerly anticipating the Championship, which is scheduled to take place at New Beach from 11-15 December.
The event will bring the curtain down on the FIVBs (Fédération Internationale de Volleyball) 2013 beach volleyball championships.
"I am confident that our well-co-ordinated media blitz will create the desired awareness of the global beach volleyball event in our city. To this end, we are bracing ourselves for a huge turnout of fans and the general public for the entire duration of this year’s sizzling beach volleyball event," said former champion KZN provincial volleyball player Sunil Geness.
In addition to watching the world's best beach volleyball players from 28 countries in action, Geness said that the public can look forward to getting their hands on attractive give-aways from the promoters.
“With public viewing being free of charge, be in the stands if you want to be a winner,” added Geness.
Meanwhile, South Africa's 2016 Olympic Games hopefuls, Freedom Chiya and Grant Goldschmidt, head the country's top male contenders for the FIVB's final leg in Durban. Joining Chiya and Goldschmidt for the FIVB Durban Open are Jerome Fredericks and Leo Williams and Clinton Stemmet and Jamaine Naidoo.
South African women’s teams consisting of Sheana Abrahams and Natasha Strydom, Anneta Frederiksen and Gadija Jappie, Palesa Sekhonyana and Randy Williams and Judith Augoustides and Kirsten Pocock will also see action in Durban this month.
