Farrell out of Maori game

British and Irish Lions fly-half Owen Farrell has suffered a thigh strain in training and been withdrawn from Saturday's match against the Maori All Blacks, team management said Thursday.

A statement said it was said to be a "grade one quadriceps strain" but no mention was made of how this would affect his chances for next weekend's first Test against the All Blacks.

The England playmaker had been named on the bench for the Maori game in Rotorua with Johnny Sexton to start in the number 10 jersey.

Wales fly-half Dan Biggar has now been added to the reserves.
