Roussouw dislocated his shoulder fielding a ball on the boundary in the Proteas 47 run win over Australia on Tuesday night. Scans revealed a dislocation of his right AC joint, ruling him out of the rest of the series.

Elgar has joined the squad ahead of their third clash against the series on Saturday.

The Proteas will be looking to emulate their performance against Australia this weekend. After bombing out in the first match against West Indies, South Africa rallied together and produced a slightly better performance with the bat.

Farhaan Behardien was the standout performer, scoring a half century to help the Proteas set a defendable total.

The middle-order batsman said the performance made amends for their defeat to the West Indies.

“We never batted out our overs against the West Indies and we probably could’ve sneaked out another 20 runs and against them on that night, it could have proved vital,” Behardien said.

“On Tuesday, the chat was to get to that last over. Yes we lost a few wickets but we earned the right to have a go in that last over and 190 proved successful.”

Despite not having the largest total to defend, Behardien said the collective effort from the Proteas bowlers made the difference against a very good Australian outfit.

“We had a score to bowl at and we knew the Aussies are a team full of confidence but we knew 190 would be tough to chase. Those first ten overs, KG and Parnell bowled really well and got those first three wickets which put them on the back foot.”

The Proteas face Australia on Saturday in St Kitts. Play gets underway at 7pm - South African time.
