This weekend Durban is the place to be with the Durban Surf Carnival - presented by Jeep Apparel - cranking up the heat at New Pier.

Head down there to catch world-class wave riding in the KZN Longboard Championships, the South African SUP Surfing Championships and an all-new Forgotten Soul Retro Surfing Division, which will see surfers riding single-fin sub-7ft surfboards.

There are photographic competitions and free surfing clinics too. Don’t miss out as there is a lot of swell forecast, the banks are good and the conditions should be epic!

For more information contact Nerve Events on 031-201 2169 or go to durbansurfcarnival.blogspot.com.

Please note that the NSRI Barrel Race has been postponed due to rough sea conditions forecast for Sunday - so rather go along to New Pier to catch the surfers and SUP crew in action.

Don’t forget the World Oceans Day celebrations tomorrow on the mid-south coast with the Paddle Out for Sharks off Scottburgh beach at 07h00 and the Freedive for Dugongs event at Aliwal Shoal after that. For more info look for the ECR blog posts earlier this week or email [email protected]

We are in for gorgeous bikinis and boardshorts weather with a max of 27 degrees today and 29 degrees tomorrow, with good surf on the cards – especially today.

Keep an eye on Sunday though as temperatures plummet, rain sets in and strong SW winds will whip up the sea with massive surf forecast with swells peaking at over 4.5m!
